I loved her red hair and the way she frowned
Her hair wore the sunshine just like a crown
And I knew from the start that I'd get her in gown

The pair of us meshed like fingers in clay
I was a soldier called by the beret
I told her I'd write each day I'm away
In in the flower field, I asked her to stay

So I clung to my Scarlett like paper and ink
It was no short order out fighting the shrink
Ways apart, never struggled to think
Of the taste of her lips echoed "back in a wink"

I was off fighting wars that didn't exist
Little toy soldier ran off to enlist
Employing dark rooms and medicinal scripts
And my babe, she got lost in the rain and the midst

So came the man with diamonds for eyes
On a gold-plastic pedestal, she was his prize

And my beautiful Scarlett, she fell for his guise
